NBA betting is a spreadsheet sport wearing shorts. Pace, offensive rating, and rest days move totals more than a hunch about “they want this one.” Back-to-backs still leak points. Superstar minutes in garbage time will wreck a live total if you are not watching.
The original JustGamble NBA piece was a live-moneyline “game of runs” structure, not a lock. Scout games with a spread of −2 or narrower where both teams sit bottom-10 in defensive rating. Optional pregame insurance on a slight favorite. After Q1, the score should still be within five. The idea is to bet the trailing dog plus-money, then the new dog if the lead flips. Bankroll 1–2%. Paper-trade it. Pitfalls: over-insuring, skipping the Q1 check, and nights with no run. Modest 5–10% of a game bank is the old target, not a living.
Shop the number. A 220.5 versus 222 is a different bet. If you cannot name the pace of both teams, you are guessing with extra steps. Desks: NBAstuffer, TeamRankings, RealGM.
